Lately I've been just really bored and I have been working on making things for the sake of creating something instead of being unproductive (which most of us probably are feeling for 2020). With 2020 coming to an end, I can only hope for a better 2021.
So anyway, in Animal Crossing: New Horizons there is a hair accessory sold at the Able Sisters called the "Zen Hair Clip". It appears to be a five petal flower with a pearl in the centre. This is actually a traditional Japanese head piece, and it is an art form usually with Japanese silk/ fabrics and glued together.

I've decided to make a few, with the difference being that I've handstitched them (glue was also used, but for other purposes). I've also ditched the pearl to make it less flashy and to have one less thing to worry about falling off, especially as it can also be used for children as well.
I've currently got it in about 4 variations (only three online as I haven't completed the final one... I've just got a lot of things going on right now), and I'm putting them up on Etsy to see if anyone is interested.
Starting an Etsy store has been really exciting and fun so far, but I only realised recently that with the whole COVID thing going on, AusPost has been really sneaky and has increased parcel postage within Australia! Wtf! AusPost have like, lost zero business, and in fact as probably had their profits skyrocket this year because everyone is relying on parcel post to do their shopping due to lockdowns. It's no wonder why one of my favourite retailers has switched their deliveries to another carrier! I'm trying pretty hard to keep the costs down (as much as possible, without making a loss), but it's not feasible with crazy postage prices.
Making these take a considerable amount of time and labour - I've bent a needle in the process making one of these, and let me tell you, working with small bits and pieces is also such a challenge.
If you're interested to see more images, feel free to head to my Etsy store and follow me on my shop's Instagram.

My ultimate goal is to probably bulk sell these at a market stall (because there's only so much one can do), but there's just so much I want to make and so much I want to do! Recently I've started making some jewellery too, so it's just been hectic.
Yours,
